How to Brief a Jersey Designer: A Template for Team Captains

“Make it look cool” is the most common jersey brief we get — and the hardest to design from. A slightly more structured brief gets you a better first mockup and fewer revision rounds. Here’s a simple template.

1. Sport and Playing Conditions

Name the sport and where it’s mostly played (indoor/outdoor, typical weather) — this affects fabric and GSM recommendations before design even starts.

2. Colors (In Order of Priority)

List your primary color first, then any secondary or accent colors. If you have a hex code or a reference photo of the exact shade, include it — “blue” can mean a dozen different things to a designer.

3. Reference Designs

Even one or two reference images (a jersey you’ve seen and liked, from any team or brand) helps more than a paragraph of description. Screenshots from Instagram or Pinterest work fine.

4. Text and Logo Placement

Specify team name, custom Jersey Ahmedabad sponsor logo (if any), and where player names/numbers should sit — front, back, or both — so the designer can plan space accordingly from the first draft.

5. Squad Size and Timeline

Confirm your minimum order size (4+) and your delivery deadline upfront, so production scheduling starts alongside design rather than after.

Mistakes That Slow Down the Design Process

• Low-quality logo files: send the original logo file if you have it. A blurry screenshot will look blurry on the jersey.
• Too many decision-makers: agree on one person who approves the design, so feedback stays clear.
• Changing colours after approval: finalise colours before you approve, as changes after that delay production.
• Missing sizes: the design can be ready, but production cannot start without the full size list.

What Happens After You Send the Brief
